2023 marked our third year volunteering at Bahia Honda State Park. Located in the lower Florida Keys, there is no place more beautiful. From May to the end of July we worked, played, and sweated… A LOT!
The volunteer coordinator is really great at her job. People have started and left unexpectedly for various personal reasons. The team always pitches in to overcome these unforseen shortfalls and she always finds replacements quickly. If you are reading this and thinking it may be something you want to try, please contact myself or Mary and we will put you in touch with her.

Living in the Florida Keys for 3 months each year is great. Hard work yes, but not overwhelming. There is nothing like living on this archipelago and we look forward to returning again next year. Identifying turtle tracks and pulling trash, like an old water heater, from the ocean is all part of the job.
I swore that when we transitioned from a brick and mortar house to our RV that we would never live in a tin can in Florida during the height of hurricane season. So it’s off we go. Heading to Maryland to spend August, September and October near our daughter Lindsay, along with Mary’s family.
Thanks for following us . To see more beautiful photos like these and stay current with our travels, follow Mary on Facebook for the most recent updates. She is our historian and navigator 🙂
